I've loved Homer the blind poet's epic tale: "The Odyssey," since I was a boy. It's one of my favorite books. If everyone had to memorize a book by heart I would chose that one. After Odysseus and his crew take leave of the Island of Circe (where they had been forced to remain for one year,) they are on their way home to Ithaca, via the Land of the Dead, and must pass through the part of the sea where the Sirens dwell and sing their beautiful songs. Their songs lure many sailors to shipwreck. Here, I imagined the Sirens to be whistling in unison, soft and eerie, as they lure a ship into their domain.
