Magic-Realism
Spiritualism is a communicative process. The operative seeks counsel and advice from spirits - usually those of the deceased. It is based on the belief that between this life and the next, the veil can be pulled back and contact can be made between the living and the dead, or other advisory spirits. This is a fairly widespread belief, and is part of the belief-systems of many cultures.
